Plug-in: Twitter Tools

This item was filed under [ plug-ins ]

Twitter Tools is a plug-in that creates an integration between your WordPress blog and your twitter account. Pull your tweets into your blog and create new tweets on blog posts and from within WordPress.

Features:

  • Archive your Twitter tweets (downloaded every 15 minutes);
  • Create a blog post from each of your tweets;
  • Create a daily digest post of your tweets;
  • Create a tweet on Twitter whenever you post in your blog, with a link to the blog post;
  • Post a tweet from your sidebar;
  • Post a tweet from the WP Admin screens;
  • Pass your tweets along to another service (via API hook).

The Good:

Twitter Tools is a great plug-in for Wordpress blogs, allowing users to tweet directly from their blog sidebar or admin area, create a blog post from a tweet and generate tweets from blog posts. There is a good level of customization available as well.

The Not-so-Good:

One of the features of Twitter Tools is to allow for creation of a daily digest blog post from tweets. Sounds great, except that there is an enormous bug living in that part of Twitter Tools (or perhaps many, many smaller ones) so that sometimes dozens of duplicate posts are created. Further, it does not appear that this will be resolved any time soon, as the developer has not prioritized it (fair enough - working on it for free).
