Mobile Widget: TwitToday
TwitToday is a “Today screen” plug-in that allows users to post Twitter updates directly from their Windows Mobile device.
Features:
- Twitter plug-in for the Today screen of Windows Mobile touchscreen devices
- fast posting of tweets – no launching or polling
- direct launch of http://m.twitter.com for viewing tweets by clicking on Twitter logo
The Good:
If you have a Windows Mobile touchscreen device and want to rapidly post tweets (without having to launch an application that views, @replies and DMs tweets), then TwitToday is just the thing for you. It does an excellent job of just posting, and since it lives on the Today screen, it is an even faster option than sending a tweet by SMS.
The Not-so-Good:
Some folks have installation difficulties with TwitToday, but it should be remembered that it is a “Today” screen plugin and not a “Home” screen plugin. An earlier release did not support some “foreign” language special characters, but that has been fixed.

Hi – My name is Dale, and I wrote TwitToday
I’m surprised to hear you say that “it does not support some ‘foreign’ language special characters” – as I don’t believe that this has been true for some time.
The current version of the app (v1.1) should handle symbols or accented characters without problems – if you know of any characters which you believe are not supported, please let me know and I will fix it.
Dale,
We were test driving an earlier release of TwitToday that did not support those special characters (at least not all of them). You are correct in pointing out that the current release handles those characters just fine (we have since looked under the hood of v.1.1).
Thanks for pointing this out to us. We appreciate the feedback.
Thanks very much for the (amazingly!) quick response and update.
It looks like freewarepocketpc.net have got hold of an old copy of the app.
I’ll ask them to update their site, but in the meantime, you can get the current version of the app direct from me at http://dalelane.co.uk/page.php?id=1047
Hmm, I installed it on WM6.1 and when I click “OK” I get a TiwtToday error message saying “Failed to send tweet”.
Hi, I’m using TwitToday in Korea, it seems not to support Korean language. Of course if I write Korean in notepad and copy & paste it into the inputtext of TwitToday, it can submit Korean letters but I can not type Korean into TwitToday directly.
I’m using TwitToday v1.3 and Windows Mobile 6.1
