Web App: Twitterlight

This item was filed under [ web apps ]

Twitterlight is a web app that allows users to post tweets and view their timeline, archive and @replies.

Features:

  • UI runs on Silverlight
  • login with Twitter username and password
  • post tweets with TinyURL link shortening
  • view public timeline, your followers’ tweets, your own archive and @replies
  • zoom feature

The Good:

Twitterlight offers users a unique graphical display of tweets, showing username and real name, method of delivery, avatar, date, time and geographical location of the tweet. It also allows for the following of any links contained in a tweet. When posting, Twitterlight allows for link shortening with tinyurl.

The Not-so-Good:

While Twitterlight’s graphical display is unique and interesting, there are a few significant shortcomings, in our view: 1) Twitter password is required and there is no stated privacy policy; 2) there is no way to view DMs; and 3) there appears to be no logout feature.
