Web App: geoheartbeat

This item was filed under [ web apps ]

geoheartbeat is a web app that allows users to view tweets from around the world along with a graphical representation via Google Maps.

Features:

  • web UI displays world or USA map with tweet locations marked by hearts
  • tweets displayed along with avatars
  • click on heart to display more details of tweet/er

The Good:

geoheartbeat is an interesting way to view tweets based on geo-location. It is a combination of Twitter and Google Maps. You can manipulate the map in many ways. As you drill deeper into the map, more Twitter users from each “Metropolis” are displayed.

The Not-so-Good:

Although the geoheartbeat site has a blog, it would be very nice to have additional information about how it works, and how tweets end up on the site.

Tweetwave.com rates it: ♦♦♦
