Web App: hellotxt
hellotxt is a service that allows users to update status on Twitter, FaceBook and other services simultaneously.
Features:
- dashboard UI
- unique address provided for updating online directly or by email or MMS camera phone
- embed photos and video in updates
- integration with Dial2Do
The Good:
hellotxt is a good service for posting updates to a number of different social media platforms. Twitter is among the platforms it supports. One update/tweet get posted to selected platforms simultaneously. The photo and video support are good, and the hellotxt API has now been released, for those who are developmentally minded.
The Not-so-Good:
While we liked the idea of hellotxt, we felt that the execution could have been better. We don’t have a problem with registering to use the service, but once registered you are given a unique codename and password (all of which must be remembered). hellotxt supports a bunch of social media platforms, which is good, but there are configurations required for each, and that can get a bit tedious. hellotxt works with IE, FireFox, Safari and Chrome (which is good), but only some of the configurations work only with FireFox (which isn’t good, unless you have FireFox). There are some features which seem a bit obscure and must be further configured. Finally, the supporting documents are replete with typos (including in the names of some applications), which detracts from the entire experience.
Tweetwave.com rates it: ★★★
